lol, Time Travel.

March 28, 2009

Despite the fact that everyone I know has been slowly giving up on Lost over the years I’ve been watching it, I’m a firm believer that it’ll actually turn out okay. That the creators won’t just end the series with a giant middle finger to all it’s fans and go ‘lol, it was all a dream’. I’ve stuck through it since the start, and with the current storyline, it’s turning out pretty well. For those of you that don’t watch the show and want a summary of what happened, here you go -

A bunch of people crashed on a weird island where some people from the 70s used to do experiments, but aren’t there anymore. A bunch of crap happened (the first four seasons) that’s not really important, and everyone on the island went back to the 1970s. And are now working for the people doing experiments.

Cue Sawye… sorry, LaFleur’s eternally confused face. Looking back on it, it seems weird that you could skip out the first four seasons of the show… but they’re good enough for the intrigue and mythology of the island and it’s factions anyway. Now the whole back in time think would be okay, but Sayid just shot a 10-year-old Ben Linus in the chest, to further fuck up causality. Oh boy, next week’s show is gonna be interesting.

Oh, and sorry about a lack of updates. Been working on university assessments, still trying to find a job placement, and too busy playing 3D Picross to do the last two things I just said. Hah.

Three-Digit Television

February 1, 2009

The American TV schedule has picked now that the Christmas mid-season break is over, and with it brings the return of several shows non seen since the writer’s strike early last year. The seventh day of 24 came back with a bang, and you’d think that the government would know by now not to mutter those four magical words in Jack Bauer’s presence – “Do whatever it takes. ” – cue the protagonist leaping onto the suspect and attempting to gauge his eye out with a biro. Fantastic. There’s the usual conspiracy plotline that’s a bit predictable, but still highly enjoyable.

Last week also saw the return of Lost, and LOL WUT TIME TRAVEL. I laugh at the confusion, whereas it turns most people away from the show… it’ll be interesting to see how this season turns out, because after refreshing myself on season four’s plot, fuck all happened in 13 episodes. More storyline plz kthx. I’m still watching Fringe as well, slowly getting more and more like X-Files, as well as the usual Sunday animation on FOX – American Dad, Family Guy and The Simpsons. Good stuff.

I also recently finished watching Fullmetal Alchemist – great show. I didn’t like the movie as much, as well as the way it ended, but at least it’s being rewritten and the second season is starting in April.

Oh, and this is my 100th post. Nobody really cares.

Moving An Island? Easy.

June 2, 2008

I’m not gonna criticise it, like most people have done… I actually enjoyed the Lost season finale. Yeah, so it might have gotten a little crazy when Ben went deep into the centre of the island, blew a hole in the time machine, crawled into an ice cave, turned a giant donkey wheel and moved the island, warping himself to the middle of a Tunisian desert a year or so in the future… Okay, so it got a lot crazy. But I don’t really mind that at all. I’m one of the people who doesn’t mind how absurd it gets – the intrigue and mystery is what I enjoy most about the show, and it keeps delivering. Bring on the next season!

I went back down to the ‘boro for the weekend for the Middlesbrough Music Live festival, the only people still stranded down in the halls were Matt and Sheila – I’m not complaining, although it was a bit boring with my room being completely empty and all. The festival started off good (only because half the people there were skinny scene kids… yum), but towards the latter half of the day it turned into a charv’s family day out on the main stage. There were a few drunken fights/riots, usually when the performing band started playing Pigbag… bleh. Ash were awesome live, I’ve been wanting to see them for ages now, and I managed to get on the front barrier for the whole set ^^ Apart from the whether and having to stand for 11 hours straight in the mud, a great day!

Oh, and if you were the cute girl wearing the Metallica hoody that smiled at me, let me know. You were only a few rows behind me, but I lost sight of you after The Delays finished their set… damnit. Don’t you just hate it when that happens? ¬_¬

Procrastination FTW!

May 9, 2008

This blog is a great tool for procrastinating… I’ve been putting off finishing my Technical Asset Creation report for a fair few hours now, but I should get it finished at some point. I managed to finish my animation today, so I’ll be uploading it onto Youtube just after the deadline passes so you can all see the crappiness that is my Maya skills. In the end, I had to use MainActor rather than a decent editing program – Final Cut, Premiere, Vegas… hell, even Movie Maker has more functionality than MainActor. You think with .iff being the default Maya rendering format, things would support it ¬_¬ My GAT is all burned off and ready to hand in, leaving a week to learn the entirety of CP2 and design/code the assessment, and I’m not looking forward to it. Oh, and there’s a Graphical Mathematics exam I haven’t even thought about yet. Bugger.

This week’s episode of Lost is… interesting, to say the least. I’m worried that the writers are having a post-detox relapse and are back on the crazy pills, but we’ll see how it all pans out. Not that I mind it like this, I’m one of the few people who didn’t think ‘This is stupid!’ when drowning in a sea of unanswered questions, working out the mystery kept me even more intrigued. I should finish watching Chuck when I get the chance, and maybe pick up an anime series seeing as I haven’t watched any since Death Note. I can’t wait until I don’t have the pressure of work looming over me anymore! ^^;
