A Ray Of Hope…

September 5, 2008

…because after a month of fussing on with both BT and Be*, my new house finally has internet access. I have 3 pleased housemates (after being deprived of ‘net access for over two months), and hopefully this means that I’ll be moving down there to the house in a week or so. At least, when the speed picks up a bit – the connection was limited to the slowest speed in order to increase stability, so it should get faster than 4mb… I bloody hope so, seeing as the exchange is just at the end of the street. Probably won’t be as good as the university’s network (I miss you already T_T), but it’ll be faster than the 2mb I have here at home.

See? I made someone happy! …well, she doesn’t know it’s working yet, but I’m sure it’ll be a reaction similar to that.

I’m planning on being a lot more productive in the coming year at university, so I’m doing a few things to help me along. The original plan was to use my Moleskine notebook as a planner, but I thought ‘Fuck it’ and went digital – Google Calendar it is, then. And it seems pretty useful – I’ve scheduled myself into an hour or two of C++ work every other afternoon until the new semester starts, so it should be fresh in my mind. As far as lectures go, I’m going to try the Cornell note-taking method for a little while, and see how it all works out. I guess it’s pretty dependant on how much effort I’m personally willing to put in… can someone buy me a laptop so I can use OneNote instead? kthx.
